University partnership

The idea of this project is the elaboration of different partnerships with Swiss universities on the digitalization of unique collections.

These projects have several goals: first, it is a question of distribution of free knowledge in and from Switzerland. These collections have been realized by eminent Swiss biologists, and their preservation and promotion fall into the scope of our association. In terms of content, these collections represent unique sources of free illustrations for hundreds of Wikipedia articles and Wikispecies entry. These projects represent also a good opportunity for building bridges with the academic world.

In term of integration with the Strategic plan, these projects are in line with:

• "increase participation": students and professors will be approached and informed about the Wikimedia projects. University students will be encouraged to take pictures of their own samples and to then upload them on Wikimedia Commons, or to improve the corresponding entries on the different versions of Wikipedia and on Wikispecies.
• "improve quality": it will be a direct opportunity to improve related articles, but it will mainly be a big chance to reach the academic community and to then create institutional partnerships and alliances.
