MediawikiWysiwyg
One of the big disadvantages currently is that wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) or wysiwym (what you see is what you mean) capabilities. For the Wikipedia itself, this did not pose such a problem, as there are so many people writing on it. But for topics which have less coverage, projects with less coverage and regions which have less coverage the absence of such a functionality is a major entry barrier.

up to 150'000CHF / 100'000€ for the best contribution
one thing I could think of is a price of 10'000 up to 150'000 chf (up to 100'000 eur) that could be paid to that one delivering:
- a theoretical analysis of the parser
- an alternative parser and/or syntax which facilitates wysiwyg
- an integration to an existing editor, or a new editor
- bots to upgrade the syntax of existing wikis, should it be necessary
- technology to extend this with plugins so that educational content providing would be facilitated
either in terms of a diploma thesis, or whatever else would be possible out there. the price can be split, and could be awarded on community vote. --ThurnerRupert 12:32, 3 February 2008 (CET)
