2006/Annual Report
This was generated way before the General Assembly and probably never exceeded the draft... --Mbimmler 17:33, 13 January 2008 (CET)
Dear members,
The highlight of the Wikimedia CH year was the Wikipedia Day 2006, which was held at the ETH Zürich. We were happy to have interesting participants from ETH Zürich as well as Fachhochschulen and companies.
Additionally we were able to encourage some people to work on the Wikipdia in an organised manner
End of december 2006, Wikimedia CH comprises 27 members, amongst them one legal entity (Library of ETH, Zürich) and three "supporting members".
For the communication amongst our members and the community we put up several IT systems, e.g. a mailing list, a wiki and a blog.
One of our members, Manuel Schneider, was able to attend Wikimania 2006, the yearly conference organized by Wikimedia Foundation. This was also an opportunity to meet wikimedians from various countries. See here 2006/Wikimania Manuels Report.
In the „Wikiversity“ project we were able to establish first contacts to university professors to help providing also an academic basis for this quite new wikimedia project.
Further, we have also supported the igf-forum in summer 2006. Together with SIUG, Wilhelm Tux, The Alternative, Digital Allmentd, Wikimedia CH sent a public letter to the Swiss Ständerat concerning the revision of the swiss copyright law in december.
As the Ständerat has not acted upon our request, we will try to persuade the Nationalrat now with further actions.
For the year 2007 we are already planning several actions, e.g. a Wikipedia Day in Ticino, maybe a Wikipedia Day in Romandie or Bern. We will try to establish further contacts zu Wikipedia users, OpenSource activists, journalists and business people.
Our website will be relaunched in the near future to ameliorate internal transparency and we'll try to keep the website more up-to-date than before.
